Dear members of the American Resistance,
The planning for No Kings 3 is picking up speed. Today the first words are for the ongoing planning effort that will culminate on March 28th in a beautiful, impactful, and safe rally. Please get in touch with us if you can:
-donate/lend supplies (sound equipment, radios, water, snacks, canopies, foldable chairs, foldable tables, wagons, craft for signs and kids’ activities)
-pass water and snacks the day of
-be a peacemaker the day of (your job will be to keep an eye out and report if you notice an incident)
-be an active responder, such as a medic or a de-escalator
-drive your car on the day of to close/open the march
-donate $5: we will have a large fundraiser soon for the stage rental and porta-johns rental, but you can already make a donation on our ActBlue page.
-help set the sound, tables, respite hub, and kids’ tent the day of.
Remember, No Kings doesn’t belong to a handful of activists. It belongs to all of us and I guarantee that being a part of the shared planning effort feels even more rewarding than attending alone.
And now the news:
Let’s celebrate the resolution passed by the city of Romulus to block ICE from turning the building located at 7525 Cogswell Road into a concentration camp. People all over the country are stopping these. The truth about what is going on in these “detention centers” pokes its head out of the mud everywhere. What we hear from (mostly white) people briefly detained and released is TERRIFYING. Torture is mentioned multiple times. Several deaths occurred. It is our moral duty to do everything we can to stop this abomination.
Since Ryan Schwank testified that ICE cadets are taught to violate the constitution during plain-sight arrests, we cannot have any hopes left for what the Feds are doing behind closed doors. I am losing sleep over this. Do you?
Of course, DHS is trying to block us from blocking them. Please see this article on the Feds suing NJ for restricting ICE. Thank to 🧡Tristan🧡 for finding it. But the use of the land is on our side as 🧡Catherine🧡pointed out after sharing this great article on how cities leverage zoning to deny human incarceration.
There is a zillion more news, like the disastrous state of union, and such, but for the sake of time, I will jump to actions for the week:
1/We need you to speak out against tracking MI residents.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) approved the placement of Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on state land in Michigan. CBP then contacts local law enforcement to make traffic stops that lead to CBP arrests. Please follow Michigan Immigration Resource Center’s guidance:
Use this link to learn more and please contact the MDOT Director to demand that the agreement be rescinded:
MDOT Director: Bradley Wieferich
MDOT Office Phone: 517-241-2400
Director Inquiries Email: PooleE@Michigan.gov
“Hi, my name is [First Name Last Name], and I am a resident of [City/Township]. I am calling to express my objection to the approval of ALPR cameras for Customs and Border Protection on state land. This agreement raises privacy and security concerns for MI residents, directs state and local resources for federal immigration enforcement, and leads to further separation of Michigan families. I urge you to rescind MDOT’s agreement with CBP. Thank you.” A million thanks to 🧡Linda D.🧡 for putting this call to action together.
2/ Whether you are an Oakland county resident or not, we need you to write to the CLEMIS using this toolkit, which has the email template. County leaders have said they support ending the CLEMIS contract with ICE. The contract expires 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟑𝟏. Now we make sure it is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐝. Be in the lookout on social medias for the ICE out of OC collective to call for the next “pack the room” meeting on Thursday mornings at 10 AM at 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥, 7525 Highland Road, White Lake, MI 48383. My guess is next Thursday 3/5.
3/We keep the pressure on our Members of Congress to defund ICE: please feel free to use Indivisible call and email tools to do so.

If you are curious about how emotions shape mobilization, you can watch this short clip here (full video here) where French journalist Salomé Saqué interviews Chowra Makaremi, a French-Iranian anthropologist, who studies the Iranian regime and the Iranian women’s revolt. Following Chowra insights, I am more and more convinced that only anchoring ourselves in our emotions (of disgust, indignation, love, joy) will get us all out of the chaos.
As always, please share this Bulletin with two new more people, join the Signal Chat here, and follow your 🧡very own group 🧡, 🧡We the People Dissent🧡 on Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky.
In loving solidarity,
Audrey
