1/1/26

Dear members of the American Resistance,

Despite it all, despite the fear, cruelty, hatred rotting the core of our country, despite the inflation, layoffs, healthcare worries, despite the kidnappings, wars, genocide, we are wishing you all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. 2026 is still a blank canvas that belongs to us where we can collectively write a better story than the one it could be without our courage, engagement, and morals. Here is to our beautiful 2026 Resistance!

One great article to celebrate our main activity: The Effectiveness of Protesting.

1/ ICE

🧡Diane🧡reached out to us to coordinate a massive effort to protect immigrants: Contact churches and encourage them to display signs that no agents will be granted access without a judicial warrant (and enforce the policy). Please do not miss our next member meeting (Wednesday, January 7th at 7 PM  sign-up here for it) where Diane will give a short presentation and you will be able to sign-up for calling a couple of churches.

🧡Linda🧡 and đ꧎Joyce🧡 are working on a project that involves our friendly neighbor, Canada. We will share info during the January 7thmeeting as well.

You probably have heard in the news that a new center to detain immigrants kidnapped by ICE may be opening in Highland Park. A “processing” center as the regime calls it. Are people meat? Or is it again the infamous Nazi strategy to te/amper with the language and hide the horrifying reality under bland and generic words? In any case, we cannot let it happen. Please stay tune for an upcoming protest. In the meantime, please call Whitmer, Slotkin, Peters, State Sen. Stephanie Chang, MI house Rep. Joe Tate to oppose.

Finally, please share this Women’s March video widely

2/ DATA CENTERS

Please call and send a letter to Dana Nessel about the DTE contract for the mega data center in Saline Township. The ex-parte was approved, so all we have now for us is Dana Nessel who is strongly opposed to this project. Please consider calling her and sending a letter, so it can be counted as a formal constituent request. Here is the letter template. Just copy, paste, add your info, print, send. Thank you to đ꧎Sean🧡 for preparing the letter.

3/ EVENTS

Please mark your calendars for (dry packed) January:

We recommend you park up Woodward and use the Q-Line to get to Grand Circus or carpool with other members to get to Central Church parking lot and park for free (we will have a few spots available for us). If you’d like to carpool, don’t hesitate to join the Signal Chat Group and drop a message about it! Join the Signal Chat here

Friday, January 9 at noon EST is the regular Zoom meeting of the Anti-Avelo Coalition. đ꧎Catherine🧡 was asking about Anti-Avelo rallies, and I am wondering if we could have a committee to get in touch with them and continue to organize protests at the airport. If you would like to attend the meeting, please email them at info@stopavelo.org to receive the link.

Saturday, January 10th 2-4 PM is the next CAFÉ training for those of us living in Oakland county to help report ICE agents in neighborhoods and record (it’s legal) their activity. Email CAFÉ folks at pontiacdefenders@gmail.com to get the meeting location.

Miscellaneous:

A/ You wanna choose who will head to the general election in November? Register today with the MICHIGAN DEMOCRATIC PARTY to vote at the primary. It’s easy, free, and you don’t even have to agree with the values and actions of the Democratic Party. On another hand, if you want to claim that one bit of agency that representative democracy allows us to keep, then deciding who goes to the boxing ring in November will feel good, whether you are a progressive, a moderate democrat, an independent, or else. Register here and as a bonus join the caucuses of your choice.

B/ Survey: what type of resisting community are we? One-minute survey

C/ Please vote on WtPD resistance anthem! Listen to đ꧎Jozef🧡’s What Kind Of America Do We Wanna Be song, then register your vote on this FB post

D/The Money Out Of Politics petition is not getting signatures on its own unfortunately. It needs many more circulators to have a chance to get on the ballot. Please respond to this email to become a circulator (it’s easy, even if it’s cold outside, and we have great conversations with like-minded voters).

As always, please share this Bulletin with two new more people and follow your đ꧎very own group đ꧎, đ꧎We the People Dissent🧡 on Instagram

In loving solidarity,

Audrey
