Lots happened in just 7 days, so much that January 7th feels like a year ago. I am thinking of the invasion of Venezuela and capturing of the Maduros, how we were busy fighting against it, chanting NO WAR during our corner protest on Sunday Jan. 4th. Now, it feels like old history. So do the Epstein files. Do you guys even think of them from time to time? I have to make a mental effort to bring them back on my mind’s forestage. The rest of the time, the only two things I can think of: Greenland (so Europe) is preparing for US Army invasion, and one of us (Renee Good) died at the hands of ICE.
One week ago, we could still believe that the regime was cosplaying Fascist. Now, this illusion is gone. The ICE crackdown on Minneapolis leaves us with no possible doubt that the underground army that Pete Hegseth said he’s raising as described in Jack Posobiec’s Unhumans is indeed underway. Gov. Walz is calling Minnesotans to resist in a remarkably courageous message and he couldn’t be more right. History is never pre-written. As French historian Johann Chapoutot demonstrated (his point condensed in this 12-minute clip), Hitler’s Germany was not bound to exist until the very last second. So, if we collectively rise and stand up to this American Gestapo, it won’t be able to contain our flow. We are the flood. As Heather Cox Richardson put it in yesterday’s Letter from an American the regime does not have enough personnel to control a city that does not comply (quick IG summary).
Additionally, the regims’s obstinacy (embodied by Kristi Noem) to defend Jonathan Ross, Renee’s murderer, goes against all legal precedent involving cases of officers stepping in front of a vehicle. This weary, lousy technic is an old trick that has been lawfully debunked a while ago as showed by this 2014 article that 🧡Victoria🧡 unearthed. The regime’s obstinacy is nothing else but another confirmation we are now in full blown fascism. The only way out is through.
Clearly, ICE agents are incompetent tricksters. We also had strong suspicions that they were thugs who received little to no training before being released in our streets, armed to the teeth. And if you’re in a rush, here is a preview to help you pause: “Many of ICE’s critics worry that the agency is hoovering up pro-Trump thugs—Jan. 6 insurrectionists, white nationalists, etc.—for a domestic security force loyal to the president. The truth, my experience suggests, is perhaps even scarier: ICE’s recruitment push is so sloppy that the administration effectively has no idea who’s joining the agency’s ranks. We’re all, collectively, in the dark about whom the state is arming, tasking with the most sensitive of law enforcement work, and then sending into America’s streets.” It is a long article, but it is worth the read. Every. Single. Word.
An Anti-ICE protester in California, Kaden Rummler, was shot by a DHS agent who blinded him and fractured his skull. Kaden’s life was saved by a 6-hour surgery. But he lost his eye (reminds me of this).
Let’s apply more pressure, always more pressure on city councils to demand ICE be banned from our communities:
On Tuesday, the press conference to demand ICE OUT of Detroit, that 🧡Tristan🧡 with Detroit Will Breathe organized was impactul. You can read about it here and here. It was followed by a long city council meeting during which I heard many of you provide public comments in support of Gabriela Santiago-Romero’s memo. Here is a recounting of the meeting if you missed it.

As we’ve now entered historic territory, we shall keep track of the victims of ICE, for the record and/or in case that, in 80 years from now, some other wanna-be dictator followed by some other eugenist creeps will say it never happened. Here is the almost up-to-date list that the Guardian has put together. Also you can view on our IG the same list of people that ICE agents killed on a sign that a protester brought to our protest last Sunday at Hart Plaza. For the next rallies, we need help with creating one sign per victim. Please reach out if you would like to participate. Ideally, we would have these ready for Sunday, our corner protest at Grand Circus, during which we will read poetry to honor the memory of the victims.
