3/26/26

Dear members of the American Resistance,

We are there: No Kings 3 is Saturday and, you won’t believe it, we are ready! Volunteers have signed up, donors have funded the rally, supplies have been purchased, and speakers are tweaking their powerful speeches!

For those of you heading to Grand Circus in Detroit and donating water, please follow signage to the INFO AND HELP AREA where you will be able to drop it.

Please read the info below to be best prepared to attend the rally and enjoy it!

Before heading to the rally, please visit https://nokingsdetroit.org, especially the wall of shame tab, which lists known counter-protesters. We need attendees to identify, ignore, or report these people, and it goes much better if you have an idea of what they look like.

Across the country, authoritarian forces are pushing to consolidate power, suppress voters, militarize our communities, and strip away the democratic rights generations fought to win. Detroit has seen this before, and we know how to respond.

We will gather at Grand Circus Park at 3 PM for a short rally before marching together up Woodward Avenue, Detroit’s historic avenue of protest and resistance.

Democracy is not self-executing. It survives only when people stand up and defend it. Detroit is standing up.

This event is intended to be peacefuldisciplined, and determined. Mass demonstrations work best when participants come ready, stay aware, and help keep the crowd safe.

  • Stay with the crowd and follow instructions from marshals
  • Do not engage with agitators (do not talk to them, respond to them, just plainly ignore their presence)
  • If you see harassment or dangerous behavior, notify a marshal
  • Record incidents if it is safe to do so
  • Keep an eye on the people around you and help each other stay safe

Participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with your protest rights, as outlined by organizations like the ACLU and the National Lawyers Guild

What to bring

  • Signs, banners, and protest art
  • Water and snacks
  • Weather-appropriate clothing & sunscreen

  • Dynamic march (to start around 4 PM)
  • Gorgeous swag and signs

How to get there

Parking will be very very very tight. We discourage everyone from driving to the Park. Please park all along Woodward Avenue, north of Grand Circus, using the side streets, then ride the Q-Line, which is free. You can also use the multiple parking lots downtown. But in any case, try to avoid driving through or to Grand Circus.

Disabilities

If you have a disability, please plan to have someone drive you to the Park, then seek parking away. We will have chairs set in the park, but given the number of people we are expecting, we cannot guarantee availability. If you absolutely need seating while none is available, please notify a marshal or an organizer (wearing a yellow ‘volunteer’ lanyard) and we will do our best to assist you.

Precautions

Please be aware of your surroundings at the park! It’s a park, so there may be branches on the ground, tripping spots here and there. There will also be multiple cable for the sound system. Watch your step!

We are setting the rally on the east side of the park. If we become a big crowd J, please remain mindful of traffic nearby on Woodward avenue. We need to keep traffic flow normally, for both cars and Q-Line.

Costs

The rally is free for attendees! The No Kings Detroit coalition bears all the costs associated with snacks, supplies, sound rental, porta-johns, etc. But if you would like to make a donation, you can! https://secure.actblue.com/donate/indivisiblewpd1335038042

Actions to do today and tomorrow before the rally

Tell your Members of Congress: End Trump’s illegal war with Iran 🐸

Listen to this incredible conversation between Heather Cox Richardson and Timothy Snyder. I lapped everything they said!

Tell Congress: Our right to vote is non-negotiable! Tell your senators to vote NO on the SAVE act!

Email Your Members of Congress: Americans reject ICE’s plan to warehouse people. DHS is buying up warehouses to retrofit into concentration camps — but several grassroots campaigns to halt such sales have been successful! Members of Congress must do all they can to block the warehousing of human beings.

Resistance goes beyond No Kings. Sustained engagement with regular doable commitment is transformative. Showing up once in a blue moon is not.
