12/25/25

Dear members of the American Resistance,

Merry Christmas! Warmest wishes for a lovely and peaceful day!

Let’s start this bulletin with a present, brought to us by an unexpected Santa: SCOTUS. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court refused to allow the deployment of the National Guard in Chicago, making it look very promising for stopping it elsewhere as well. You can read all about it in this NYT article. It truly deserves the top award of 5 yummies 🍒 🍒 🍒 🍒 🍒!!!!!!!!!!

Just a few items for us to consider this week that is hopefully a restful one.

1/Call and send a letter to Dana Nessel about the DTE contract for the mega data center in Saline Township. The ex-parte was approved, so all we have for us now is Dana Nessel who is strongly opposed to this project. Please consider calling her and sending a letter, so it can be counted as a formal constituent request. Here is the letter template. Just copy, paste, add your info, print, send. A big thank you to 🧡Sean🧡 for preparing the letter.

2/Also, there is still time to submit a comment to EGLE to oppose the project on environmental grounds. You can submit it here by 12/28 via MiEnviro (Submission # HQF-OVDY-1FZ1N). You can also send it by mail:

EGLE, Water Resources Division

Jackson District Office

P.O. Box 30458

Lansing, Michigan, 48909-7958

3/Please continue to call Whitmer, Peters, and Slotkin to urge them to oppose the data center implementation and the consequential ecocide.

4/ More and more, it feels like this fight for keeping drinkable water and a (barely) surviving ecosystem in Michigan may be the fight of the century. Michigan is getting international attention here, which in itself tells us how serious the issue is: The Guardian talks about us

Forthcoming in January is a series of nice events. Mentioning them here so we can mark our calendars, but will mention them again in next week’s bulletin:

January 4th at 1PM, please join us for our corner protest at Grand Circus! Link to register.

Note that you can park for free in the streets, but that day the Lions are expected to play, so parking will be tight. We recommend you park up Woodward and use the Q-Line to get to Grand Circus or carpool with other members to get to Central Church parking lot and park for free (we will have a few spots available for us). If you’d like to carpool, don’t hesitate to join the Signal Chat Group and drop a message about it! Join the Signal Chat here

January 7th at 7 PM is our next online meeting and you can sign-up here for it.

January 10th 2-4 PM is the next CAFÉ training for those of us living in Oakland county to help report ICE agents in neighborhoods and record (it’s legal) their activity. Email CAFÉ folks at pontiacdefenders@gmail.com to get the meeting location.

January 13th, 9:30 am, pack the City Council Formal Session with Detroit Anti-War Committee. The point? Give public comments to introduce a Detroit Divest Resolution & evidence that the city contributes our tax dollars to the war economy. If you would like help preparing a comment, email the DAWC folks at detroitantiwar@gmail.com

On January 19th, MLK Day, please join the 23rd Detroit MLK Rally which starts at noon at St Matthews/St Joseph located on 8850 Woodward Avenue.

Miscellaneous:

A/There is still time to vote on WtPD resistance anthem! Please listen to 🧡Jozef🧡’s What Kind Of America Do We Wanna Be song, then register your vote on this FB post

B/Meidas Touch devoted his bulletin to Michigan yesterday and it’s enlightening.

C/The Money Out Of Politics petition is not going to get signatures on its own. It needs many more circulators to have a chance to get on the ballot. Please respond to this email to become a circulator (it’s easy, even if it’s cold outside, and we have great conversations with like-minded voters).

As always, please share this Bulletin with two new more people and follow your 🧡very own group 🧡, 🧡We the People Dissent🧡 on Instagram

In loving solidarity,

Audrey
